Being responsible for your family all day, and possibly adding in a work from home job or home business can be harder than a lot of people think. Most at home parents quickly learn about the challenges and delights.

But stay at home moms and dads have some big advantages these days too. The Internet has opened up many possibilities, from meeting new friends online to bringing in an income while being there for your kids.

Stay at home moms don't have to find a work from home job or start a home business, but if that's what you wnat to do, one of the most important things you can do is get some solid advice. There are tons of work at home scams out there, and falling for one can be all too easy.

Working at home is one of my greatest pleasures. I get to be with my kids. I get to earn money while doing so, and no boss other than me. That's the beauty of having an online business.

You can have one too, and you don't have to fear the HTML or website design. Just check out what Site Build It has to offer. Even my dad is a fan, and is working on a site using their tools. It took him a while, but he is now seriously impressed. They have a fabulous guarantee.

When to Get a Pet
We’ve had a neighbor’s kitten lately just driving my kids crazy. It’s one of 10 from two litters the neighbor’s cat had (yes, she’s been spayed now). They kept this cat and a few other of the kittens, but this one seems to prefer my kids to theirs. It’s been a bit interesting explaining to my [...]

Have You Taken Charge of Your Family’s Nutrition?
I came across a very interesting article by Marguerite Manteau-Rao about what families spend their money on at the grocery store. The data came from Nielsen Research, and if you’ve ever looked inside other people’s shopping carts (and quite likely your own), you probably won’t be surprised. photo by ninjapoodles People buy a lot of really unhealthy [...]

When Your Child Travels Without You
It’s been an interesting weekend for me. My 3 year old son has gone on his first trip without me. 500 miles by airplane to Sacramento with my mother to a family event. It’s hard letting kids go away on their own. But it’s also so good for them. Letting go is incredibly difficult, even though I [...]

Want to know how I got my start?

I've been asked many times how I learned about working at home. I was one of the lucky ones. I learned about medical transcription from my older sister, who helped me to get training and land my first job. I worked as a transcriptionist for about three years. The number of times I had other moms ask me how to get into that field eventually inspired this website.

No, this site was not an overnight success. It took over two years to build this site to where I could quit transcribing and work solely on this and my other websites. Over time, I found that more of my visitors were interested in stay at home parenting topics and work at home jobs, so I spun off the home business section to a new website. I still go over some of the basics of home business here, but the other site goes into more detail on a wider range of home businesses.

Want to keep up with things on this site and get fresh articles on being a stay at home or work at home parent? Subscribe to the newsletter! It includes what's new on the site, letter from the editor, articles on working at home, saving money, work at home business and more. Get information on products and services that may interest you as a stay or work at home parent, as well as advice on coping with issues you may face.

How has staying home with the kids changed?

For all you Mommies out there...
